Woke up earlier than my usual summer clock waking up time to buy balloons and other party stuff needed. My mom accompanied me to Divisoria today. And yes, I was indeed delighted to have discovered such wonderful place filled with a lot of cheap finds. Next time, I’ll bring Ivy and other friends who are fans of bargain hunting. Here are few of the things we bought earlier:

balloons of all sorts and colors and balloon pumps
I got the balloons: 100 pcs for 200 pesos per pack; cheaper than buying it at
3-5 pesos or more per piece in bookstores

party poppers \:D/
I forgot how much each costs but surely all three is less than a 100 bucks

Aren’t these table napkins cute? I got them for 25 pesos each pack ;)
While on our way home, we took a PUV going back to EDSA. We happen to ride with a nun who really made me realize a very important lesson in life today. Traffic was bad this morning so it took us ages to reach Edsa. Somewhere in the middle of the trip, an old lady, carrying a baby while holding a little kid sat beside us. They look homeless and the lady started to beg saying: “Pasensya na po talaga. Kakapalan ko na ang muka ko. Pahingi po sana ng konting tulong pangkain lang po.” I was really hesitant to give her alms. A lot of bad things entered my mind. One is that they might be part of those syndicates who forces people like them to beg for money and the ones handling them benefit more than they who worked hard for it. Another is that this might be part of a scheme wherein we give them money and they do us harm. All those things stopped projecting in my mind when the nun sitting beside me, without any hesitation brought out a 20 peso bill and handed it over to the lady. Then everyone, including my mom, started to give alms to the lady as well. The lady was indeed very thankful to everyone and as each of the passengers took off the vehicle, she would say: “Thank you po. God Bless po. Ingat!”
Upon reaching the end of the trip, the nun took a big water container and again she handed it over to the lady saying: “Ito pa oh. Ibigay mo sa mga bata.” I really felt guilty and ashamed of myself for not being humble and kind enough to not hesitate to give when I can give. I saw the smile on the women’s face after getting the container from the nun and told the baby and the kid: “Ayan meron na tayong lalagyan”.
This is just one of the little wonders one could encounter everyday. Perhaps some would take it as a blessing while some would probably consider it as something normal but whatever that may be, I learned how to open up my eyes to the reality that life is a blessing to us. Without noticing it, a little act of kindness by a stranger we meet everyday can turn one’s life from negative to positive. This little wonder amazes me for the first time today and I hope to see more of them soon. :)
